I've read articles that indicate

1) The distance from a xmtr/amp where a stub
is installed is not critical.

and

2) If the stub is not installed directly at the
output of the xmtr/amp, it should be installed at
a multiple of a 1/4 wavelength from the xmtr/amp
output (or lengthened so the actual stub input is
1/4 wavelength electrical from the xmter/amp output).

I'm confused. :>)
Enlighten me please.
