Mike, W4XN, is restoring some antennas and trying to clean up the aluminum.

Mike, I've always used those green Scotch Brite scouring pads and water. It's a
bit messy, but cleans 'em right up. The steel wool will leave behind little
bits and pieces that will rust. For the insides, cut a narrow strip off and use
it with a piece of wooden dowel to push it around. or some REALLY fine grit
burnishing/aluminum oxide paper around a dowel.

As far as the anti-ox stuff, make a trip to your local Big Box store and get a
tube of Ox-guard or No-ox or what ever they have for electrical connections.
Just make sure it is ok for aluminum. A tube will go a loooonngggggggggg way.
and lots cheaper.

Good luck with your project.
