Clever! Was it just capacitively coupled to the main radiator or bare wire or what?

Yes, it was bare wire of the "silky"variety - very flexible. I installed small metal pulleys at the top and bottom of the vertical to avoid wearing out the wire and dacron cord. I also considered a small remote gearhead driving motor to make the length adjustment but never implemented it. I originally got the pulley idea from the "clothesline antenna" in one of the ham publications. -- 73, Cecil, w5dxp.com
