This is a hydraulic ram from Harbor Freight for $159.99. It comes with a
spreader (bottom center of the picture- looks like a wedge).

On my Tri-Ex LM-354HDSP, the spreader fits between the tower and the
erection fixture. It works perfectly to gently start the tower tilting. (I
let out a little slack on the winch cable and then pump the ram once or
twice. Repeat until the tower will tilt on its own.)

As a side benefit, I use the spreader, under one tower leg, to perfectly
align the tower before inserting the base bolts.

The hydraulic ram turned a chore into an easy task.
