Back in the old days it taught us how to think (which was the hard part) and
how to use our slide rules and use our heads to move the decimal point a
lot.

As I understand it, W6AM used telephone/power poles without a problem. Now
it may be that having rhombics strung up at the top level modified tyhe
vibration/vortex shedding as compared to Yagis. I wouldn't know - after all,
I only took and failed Applied Mechanics for five years running! What good
is flue gas analysis for the education of a radio engineer?
