Polarization rotation always seems fast enough that it's hard to keep up.
Technically, it could matter, but it's very possible for it to cycle a time
or two while you call.
If the rotation is slow, it could really help. You can detect the effect
easily at any time, but it's just hard to keep up if you also have to pick
split frequencies and time your calls, etc.
With a lot of automation, or actual diversity reception where you listen to
both polarizations on two separate receivers, things maybe are more
tractable, but you need some separation between the antennas so they don't
couple energy into each other via the near field. It would be easier to do
with low gain receiving antennas.
