Daniel,

You should have no problem with the setup you are describing. I put up
something similar (but taller)in 2001 and it is still standing today with no
problems. I have a 120 foot Rohn 25 tower, guyed to the top, with a 21 foot
mast at the top. I have a Force 12 C3E at the top of the tower and a 2
element 40 Meter Cushcraft 40 M beam stacked 13 feet above it. I turn the
antennas with a Tailtwister. (I have two Rohn thrust bearings in the top of
the tower.) This has proven to be a nice setup. It made it through
Hurricane Dolly (about 100 MPH winds) with no damage last summer. (I am in
deep south Texas.)

Your 65 - 70 feet with a tribander (if not too big - I really like the C3E)
should be fine. I spend a lot of time reading the information from the
guru's here on TowerTalk before I began. I did have a professional tower
crew do the installation which took 1.5 days. I bought the Rohn catalogue
and it was my bible for guy points, and the concrete base. I bought
everything I needed from Texas Towers (they were extremely helpful) except
the coax and antennas. I used insulating guys so I could put slopers and
other antennas on the tower if I wanted. One thing to remember is that close
to the ground there are trees and bushes, so it is a good idea to use
segments of steel guys close to the ground so the branches won't damage the
Phyllistran(sp).

My only unplanned part of this antenna project was the interaction between
the antennas. I wasn't "expecting" interaction but I got it just the same. I
had to have the tower guys come back and turn the C3 90 degrees from the 40
Meter beam. This means that my rotator indicator is ok for the 40 meter beam
but 90 degrees out for the C3. Once I got used to this, it was fine.

I am sure that there are a number of configurations of antennas that you can
use that will work fine. I have used the Force 12 C3E antenna for years and
have found it to be an excellent performer, while light and easy to put
together (but not too inexpensive anymore). Just remember that the more
stuff you put up there the more maintenance you will have.

Good luck and plan your project well. It took me a year and a half from
dream to fruition...I'm kinda slow!

Come on sunspots!

Hi Everyone,

I am thinking of putting up about 65-70' of Rohn 25
Guyed all the way to the top. I was wanting to put a nice 4-6 ele
20-10m Tribander on it (I've seen it done) and maybe a small 2 ele 40m
yagi too. Is these feasible if it is guyed well? I know Ive seen a lot
of guys put LARGE tribanders (bigger than I'm talking) on Rohn 25 that
high. I just want to know what the specs say or if any of you have done
it and with the luck you've had. I'm in North TX.

Thanks,
Daniel N9WX
