Correct. The safety grab is on the cable, then to a beaner to your chest
D-Ring. 8" from you to the cable when climbing. If it takes more than 1 inch
it has issues.

I don't know whose consensus it is, but that's not true if the system is
used properly.

Even if you did lose an eye, it's better than death or paralysis, but that's
just IMHO of course.
