I am 80 years old, weigh 139 pounds and had no problem putting new cables
and pulley bearings on my TX472 by myself. It was all done from a extension
ladder beside the tower. When my tower is extended I slip a piece of 3 inch
steel channel iron thru the bottom section so the next section rests on it
being sure that one of the corner tubes rest on it. Probably a steel plate
would be better but I have had no problem in 15 years with the channel
iron. Then no tension on the lift cable. The lift cable goes through a
floor pulley chained to the base which can be connected to a tractor or
pickup to raise and lower the tower. You will find more details on our clubs
web page www.sdxa.org Click on DX Tips on the right hand side.
