I've had a spool of this solid Al wire in a larger gauge and use it on a
capacity hat as a perimeter wire. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold up to
the onslaught of various perching birds and breaks. While it is
tempered and "low stretch" for Al, it isn't close to the low stretch of
good USA made "high tensile" fencing wire. Hence the interest in
something stronger, lower stretch and still decent RF properties. The
solid Al is very cost effective if stretch and strength aren't a
problem, e.g. radials or temporary antennas.
With copper having doubled in price this year the Al clad steel seems to
be a good alternative. I've ordered a spool and will try to measure its
properties.
