I bought a used TIC ring that had been used to hold a
6 element 20 meter beam. The single vertical support
had to be removed and replaced with two vertical supports
that straddle the area of the boom that is gripped by
the TIC ring. There is a horizontal bar that goes between
the two vertical posts to allow tensioning.

So you need the truss kit if your beam uses a truss.
