I suppose it is possible for a balun to go bed perhaps from over heating, 
however if your pattern is distorted it is likely from other nearby antennas 
or objects.  How do you know that your pattern has changed?

All,

Would there be any noticeable pattern changes while receiving on a Yagi
antenna i.e., reduced f/b f/s if it's balun became faulty? If so, could
this happen with a 1:1 bead type balun?
