We are looking to purchase a "lock out" mechanism for a two inch or 2 3/8 inch
steel leg  round tube or pipe utilized on a 90 foot tower such as a Tri-Ex
DX-70 or US Tower HDX589MDPL. This unit connects to the upper bottom section of
a five section tower. This lock out was originally used on US Towers and Tri Ex
towers for military crank ups but also purchased by several radio amateurs. Our
club ( K6KAK) is looking for a used unit either mechanical or electrical that
mounts to the tower. This "lock- out" feature prevents all sections from
collapsing upon failure of the crank up cable or failure of the lifting
Hub-City gear box. Upon locking the unit from the ground, a steel slide or rod
will pass through all sections at the seventeenth foot level, thus preventing a
failure mentioned above. US Tower will not sell this unit for stationary towers
and Tri-Ex has not manufactured this unit for years. The "lock out" device is
out there
somewhere, perhaps previously mounted on mobile trailers.
Thank you, Paul Landau
