Alan
You have just been lucky.
I also read and send email from my Windows Mail program. I never used the
Webmail service. Yet, my address book, and password were hacked/stolen.

There was a big security leak at Yahoo and I think they have it fixed. But
once the spammer has your info, he can continue to use it. Even if you do
not use a yahoo email address, you are still a target. It seems as though
maybe through a yahoo group, the spammer was able to get access to my info.

Best Regards

I've had a Yahoo! email address (along with others) for years, and, as
far as I know, my account has never been hijacked or spoofed. I *think*
this is because (a) I do not read my messages using the Web interface
but have them sent to the Inbox on my computer; (b) my address book is
on my computer rather than on the Yahoo! site; and (c) I do not use a
Windows machine for email, so I am not susceptible to
address-book-hijacking viruses.
