Just disassembled a 50 foot crankup mast of unknown manufacture and need
some help. It had dropped from about forty-feet straight down when the
cable let go and it was a tough disassembly.

It's made of square tubing with two smaller tubings one inside the other
slipping up it with a 300# rated hand winch. The square tubing has a small
pulley at the top hat feeds inside through a small hole for the cable, but
I'm not sure how the others were supposed to be attached so that it all
cranks up.

The smallest section is apparently supposed to telescope up through the
middle one, but I'll probably simplify things and just through-bolt it in
place to the middle tube so the final height will be about 48 feet. I'm
sure the cable went from the square tubing down alongside the middle round
one and attached somehow at the bottom but I don't see how. The bottom of
the bigger round tube is factory flattened on two sides but I can't see
where the cable might have been attached and there was no thimble, bolt,
etc. inside.

Anyone disassembled anything like this with some advice on the best way to
connect to the middle round tube?
