This still comes under the heading of Deferred Maintenance really doesn't
it?  If you live in CA valley like me then maybe a cable check every 6
months is fine.  If you live by the ocean then common sense should tell
someone that you may need to inspect the cables every month and replace them
every year. Take a look at the extra maintenance an Ocean City has to
perform over a central valley California City.

The price you pay for having a tower by the beautiful ocean and most likely
a better signal:-)

Maybe it's the humidity and proximity to the ocean here in Hawaii, but I
personally know of two (2) crankup towers here whose hoisting cable has
failed unexpectedly, causing sections to plummet downwards in a quite
catastrophic manner. But fortunately no personal injury hi.
