I didn't screw the anchors on my 82 ft. AB 105. Followed the basic instructions from an old Army tower installation manual. Dug a slit trench at a 45 degree depth and exiting towards the tower. Positioned the anchors into the trenches with the eye a few inches above the ground. Instead of back filling with earth, at this point I drove two 3 ft. lengths of rebar against the screws in order to impede the anchors from pulling loose. I then back filled each with two bags of concrete followed by earth. That was 30 years
ago and last month the anchors still passed stress tests.

Nathan,

Just screw them in yourself. I (with the help of my son) screwed mine in with the help of a sledge hammer and a brake bar. You "just" turn the anchor as you allow it to screw itself into the ground. You make it easier by hitting it to assist it going in.

You can check my tower installation here, https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150198503693539.328964.579753538&type=1&l=b4a8463457

Good luck and best 73 de,

Hello,

I've been trying to avoid the route of hand-screwing anchors into the
ground, but I've had no luck finding anyone who will install them. What
sort of contractor would install these things?

Or, should I just stop worrying about it and put them in by hand?

Thanks
