Grips that are made especially for Phillystran are much longer than the
equivalent ones for steel cable. If the Phillystran is the new style
(manufactured within the last 15 years or so) the grips are what you want.
The
black jacket is very thick and can take the pressure of a guy grip.

I suggest you go to the Philly Rope Works site and also to the Preformed
Line Products site for more info and how to install these grips. They are
put on the cable in a similar manner, but it is very easy to screw up a $20
Philly grip in a hurry if you don't know what you are doing.

You might also check the archives of TT for more info.

Question..I have a tower to put up for a ham in the Atl area.. He is using
PhillyStrand for the top set of guys,, and steel 1X7 EHS below that.. He
ordered it from the most famous place,, and they sent guy grips,,, what we
call performs for the phillystrand..Has any of you done this before ?? I
have never used them on Philly. Seems to me that philly is too soft and
pliable not to allow gripping strength. A steel cable is not giving and the
grip has positive gripping. So,, what has anyone done along this idea. I
want to know that the top set of philly is not going anywhere while I am on
this tower...73 Dan N4GNR
