Having been in the same situation I suggest you put the shed as close as
possible to the tower. Just leave enough space so you can get in between the
shed and the tower AND whatever you need to put the shed up.
In my case I needed space to raise the walls which left about 3 - 4 feet to the
tower.
Metallic or not metallic, I added aluminum foils in all walls and made sure (to
what was possible) to electrically connect all the foils together at the seems.
That gave me a shielded shed. I added a wide aluminium ribbon connected to the
tower and the foil. This is intended to reduce possible damages in case of
lightning strikes. Yes, there wires on top of the aluminum foil to aid in
conduction. (No, I can't receive cellphone calls inside the shed.)

Well, I've laid out the tower. Now the question is, how close can the shed
be? I want it to be as close to the tower as possible to minimize the
cable runs from the transverters up the tower (even though it will be
hardline).
The shed will be very much mostly non-metallic. There will be some rack
mounts inside and the gear and wiring. That's about it. Is there a
minimum sensible distance? Do I just guess and go on? Some of the locals
say they've shunt fed towers from as close as 15 feet to a house. The shed
is planned to be 10x10.
