I would put an insulator at the end of the ssb piece, then the cw wire, then 
another insulator.  use something like a split bolt or clamp with 
wing nuts instead of alligator clips.  alligator clips can always work loose in 
wind or from birds or whatever and I would worry about the amp
suddenly being mistuned if one fell off... also the connection with alligator 
clips could become a source of arcing resulting in tvi.
