For shack to tower runs, LDF7/AVA7 is really not hard to work with if you
direct bury it. I would not pull it though a 500' conduit.

There is really no good substitute for low loss feedlines than hardline.
Hardline uses a lot of copper and copper is not cheap (getting more
expensive recently). An alternative would be to mount an amplifier at the
base of the tower and accept the losses getting to it.

LDF5-50 seems to be the best compromise for cost and workability. The LDF7
is very hard to work with but does provide even lower loss. 0.06dB per 100
ft on 28Mhz difference. If it's a 500 ft run to the tower, its 0.3dB.

I have 2 LDF5-50 runs from the house to the 1st tower that are 300ft. Then
another 150 ft to tower 2 (also all LDF5-50). LDF4 up the tower on 10 - 40
Meters.
