Typically, pauses are caused by failure
to run a disk cache. Disk operations
take priority over external I/O,
causing I/O pauses.

This is usually not a problem if you run
TR under Windows.

If you are running under DOS, add the following
line to logcfg.dat to enable write-caching on the
C drive.
