Good morning, again, J:
According to the TR manual, logback.dat is the default name for the
automatically generated floppy disk save file. Also, if there
isn't a FLOPPY SAVE FILE line in logcfg.dat, that file will be
saved in the current directory.
--------
The alt-F command will force a save of the LOG.DAT file to the floppy
that was named with a FLOPPY FILE SAVE NAME command in
LOGCFG.DAT. If the name was not given, then the data will be saved to
LOGBACK.DAT in the same directory as LOG.DAT. You can make these
saves happen automatically by using the FLOPPY FILE SAVE FREQUENCY
command in LOGCFG.DAT
---------
This is obvious, of course, but this directory doesn't contain log.dat
OR restart.bin. Are you sure this is the directory you were actually
in when you started TR? I've written batch files sometimes to start
up contests that change directories when they start AND when they
exit.
There is also a configuration option which can cause the log file to
be in a different directory if you enter a full path name (like
c:\temp\sscw05.dat) or a relative path name (..\log\sscw05.dat).
-----
LOG FILE NAME
Values: Filename
Default: LOG.DAT
If you want the name of the log file to be something other than LOG.DAT,
use this command to change it.
-----
Again, don't boot the computer from that hard disk or do ANYTHING that
would cause a write to the disk. We may end up booting a floppy or CD
and running a program called "chkdsk" to try to repair it or
looking for an undelete utility.
For now, if you can boot from a DOS floppy, COPY the files from
that directory to the floppy and look at them on a different
computer. Logback.dat is the first thing to look at. Don't
do anything else! :-)
Hope this helps.
