Hi, Mark. I've been using Socket Communications PCMCIA Serial cards for 15
years now, in the single, dual and quad port versions. I run TR-Log in
MS-DOS for CW and occasionally SSB and WriteLog/Windows for RTTY. In all
cases, with 5 different models of HP laptops, I've had flawless operation
with either operating system and/or logging program. Obviously, I can't
speak for NEC computers or other configurations that I haven't used, but to
my knowledge the Socket cards are widely used in all kinds of Ham and
non-Ham applications. I've never heard of a problem with them, but I'm sure
there are corner cases. The Socket cards are still available new and
readily via eBay for used ones at very reasonable prices.

Good luck,
Ed - W0YK
