Hi Paul -

The best success that I've had in doing what I think you are trying to 
accomplish is put a DOS partition and a dual boot setup on the hard disk of 
my XP machine. Here is a site with an excellent description of the process:

Of course, backup everything and YMMV..., but it did work for me on an XP 
laptop that I like to have for non-shack excursions. Here in the shack I 
still use an older PII machine with Windows 98SP on it essentially 
dedicated for running TR.

Also, search the trlog@contesting.com archives, I think that others have 
even used a memory stick to boot XP machines with another OS. Look for 
posts by Mark, KD4D, he has done a lot with this type of solution, I believe.
