I discovered a way to get the monitor signal *without* wiring
the PTT on my FT-1000D: I didn't like using headphones but still
wanted to separate the main and sub receiver audio so I connected
a pair of amplified computer speakers to the fixed-level audio
output jack at the back of the rig. Now I hear the monitor audio
on the sub-receiver speaker.

Thanks much for the quick confirmation Joe. To monitor the transmitted
soundcard audio, I evidently need to break out a separate PTT line on the
FT-1000D, unlike the FT-1000MP.

Tnx/73,
