Cabrillo was originally designed for ARRL Contests (that is why the ARRL
Section). However CQ and other contests have adopted it as it provides a
standard format (see www.kkn.net). This means the contest checking
software can be easily set up to provide an impersonal test of each log.
There is no one contest logging program that can satisfy all needs. I
like Writelog as its written for windows and uses windows conventions.
Sure its feature rich so not always easy to use especially if you are
using CW/RTTY/SSB keying etc and complete rig control. Every contest
does not require cabrillo that is why sometimes cabrillo output is not
active. By adding the WT4I contest tools you can convert ALL logs to
cabrillo in a good format. Please don't attempt to homebrew cabrillo as
the checkers will probably have to re-convert anyway.
Writelog is a works in process as is any logging program...want new
features or a contest added...just get it in the list and stay tuned!
