Please note, that for this to work well (correctly?) you should set your 
CI-V TRANSCEIVE setting to OFF, otherwise data collisions on the shared 
transmit/receive line can hang things up, and you will never go into 
transmit (even though data, voice, or CW keying may be in process).

Icom used to NOT support this type of operation, but radios produced in the 
last few years seem to be coming with it. It is not unusual to find it from 
other manufacturers, who usually don't have the problem of the shared 
transmit/receive data line.
