All;

This may have been covered before but I was just wondering if anyone has gotten
the parallel port to work with Writelog
(for CW keying and DX Doubler switching) with WIN 7 and a 64 bit OS. I'm aware
of the PIEXX USB to LPT Converter but what I
really want to do is use my existing SIIG PCI LPT card.

I was able to get my PCI LPT port to work with N1MM (and WIN 7 64 bit OS) using
a special driver but I would really like to be able to run Writelog from time
to time also.

AL, K0AD

I am running Writelog on both a 32 bit (desk top) and 64 bit (laptop) Win 7
omputers with no problems. Our VE2DXY team during CQWW ran Writelog on two
4 bit computers (one running Vista and the other running Win 7). We had no
rouble networking both computers and in running Writelog.
When you install Writelog, install as Administrator and set it up to run as
dministrator. This is easy to do and only has to be set up once. Also, Win
will place your Contest, Wave Files, etc. in your Users/Documents sub
irectory and depending upon your win 7 set up, you may have to update the
diting rights to your writelog.ini file. My radio is an Elecraft K3 and I
ey everything using a USB/Serial converter (FDTI chip set). I no longer use
he parallel port. I also have dual monitors.
If you need help, send me an email.

ubject: [WriteLog] Win 7 and Writelog

few win 7 questions for the group.

I had purchased a laptop for the xyl for Christmas with win7 (32) on it for
eneral internet browsing, 13.3" LED backlit display 3gb and 320 hard, VERY
ong lasting battery (9 hours).
Long story short, the xyl likes my 10.1" Asus XP netbook with 2gb memory
etter and wants the even smaller machine much more than this one. So I
uess I have been "given an opportunity" to "experiment" with win 7 (32) for
se in amateur radio. Will also give me a chance to learn this new OS from
S that is apparently here to stay. My home entertainment friends using
in7 seem to really like it so maybe time to give it a serious look. (I once
aid win 98 was the only system I would ever use too, hi)

Since this is my on the couch I-net browsing laptop and not my ham machine I
igured I would install Writelog and a USB/rs-232 converter for rig control
o it could be used on field day and the like.
A normal simple install with no add-ons such as Ritty Write or MMTTY (for
ow).

My questions are: Has anyone installed Writelog on a Win 7 (32) machine
ecently?
Did it install and play well without ANY file manipulation?
Also, although this machine has no com or parallel ports is there a program
uch as UserPort for Win 7 to gain control of the parallel port or is this
ay too premature?

My current computers at home and in the shack are all XP Pro and one XP Home
ith 5 to 6 com ports each, dual monitors (SO2R) NO intentions of changing
rom XP at all.

3 and HNY!
