You stated that you updated from Win7 to 10. The chipset in your USB serial adapters may not be compatible with Win10 (actually the issue started with Win8). Make sure you do not have a small yellow triangle next the the com port listings in Device Manager. I had to replace all of my USB adapters when I got Win8

Chuck, I see that you are using USB=>Serial Converters. I have had
problems with these in the past and one little trick I have used is as
follows:

Using NotePad edit writelog.ini as follows:
In the file, go to the section labeled [Ports].
Look at the line for the Com port you intend to use. It will look like
this:
COM1:=9600,n,8,1,x
Check to be sure all parameters are correct, then Delete the final x (but
not
the comma). It should look like this:
COM1:=9600,n,8,1,
Click on File, Save.  Then open WriteLog;

The x is for 2 stops bits, have one or none seems to work for me.

Hope this helps. Doesn't cost much to try.

Using WriteLog under Windows 10 with 4 legacy COM ports and no problems

Make sure Windows did not change the port number of your serial ports.
This has been reported by at least two people.

I switched to Win 10. Now I can't get Writelog to communicate with the
Icom radio. Latest version of Writelog. The serial ports are working
properly according to device manager. Correct rig selected. (PRO III). WL
and rig set to same baud rate (9600). Two different USB to serial
converters. Latest drivers and mfg says work with Win 10.

Do I need to go back to Win 7? Anyone using Win 10?
