If you don't use a FlexRadio with WriteLog, you need not read further.

The following applies equally to the WriteLog demo and unlimited
releases when used with a FlexRadio.

If your software update habit is to always have the latest version,
please confirm you have WriteLog's FlexRadio driver version 12.27B
installed, or just download and install from here:
   https://writelog.com/category/flexradio-rig-driver
Thank you for being a WriteLog customer and have a nice day.
You need not read further.

If instead your software update habit is best characterized by an email
like this to WriteLog support:

Dear WriteLog support, I installed WriteLog on my computer N years ago
[where N is between 2 and 10] and haven't updated it since. That
computer recently broke because [its disk crashed, the dog ate it, my
house flooded, it executed HCF (halt-catch-fire)]. I spent $1000+ to
replace it but can't find the old WriteLog installer nor the $30 it would
take to use your automated web page to upgrade to the latest. Instead, I
request you take 10 minutes of your time to look up the record of my
purchase, find my old registration code and the old installer, email all
that to me, and answer all my questions about how to run an old installer
on a new PC.

[if anyone reading this thinks I am joking, you haven't been to a local
ham club meeting in too long.]

You guys also need to go to
  https://writelog.com/category/flexradio-rig-driver
It will be gentler to you than the upcoming WriteLog 12.30 release.
We love you customers, just like the ones above [the same way a
parent doesn't dare express preferences among his children.]
Thank you for being a WriteLog customer and have a nice day.
You need not read further.

If there are two or three customers still reading, and that care,
here is why things are the way they are. The upcoming WL12.30 release
uses some components from http://openssl.org that WL's FlexRadio
driver versions 12.25 and 12.26 introduced for SmartLink support.
WriteLog 12.30 needs to share those components, but we failed to design
that installer to accommodate WriteLog sharing them. In order
to honor all of Microsoft's installer rules in the future, we chose to
release our FlexRadio version 12.27 a few months ago and hope you would
install it without us prompting you. That 12.27 Flex driver installer
uninstalls  and reinstalls the openssl components in a way that future
versions of WriteLog can share them properly.

The future is almost here. When WriteLog 12.30 ships, its installer will
notice the 12.25 or 12.26 FlexRadio installer and refuse to upgrade
until you do something about it. The "somethings" that will be available
if you get that point will be:
a) Cancel the WriteLog 12.30 install. OR
b) Continue the 12.30 install, which will automagically un-install its
FlexRadio 12.25/12.26 driver and leave you with no FlexRadio support.

Either way, if you want to continue using WL at version 12.30 or beyond
and use it with a FlexRadio, you're going to have to go to

Thank you for being a WriteLog customer and have a nice day.
Wayne, W5XD
