How true.  That is what happened to me after a Windows Update.

The Com port numbers changed and in some cases the baud rate changed from what 
I had them set at.

Double check everything with Device Manager just to make sure.

If windows did an upgrade recently check Device Manager and verify the COM port 
number assignments haven’t changed.
