I have not used that switch but have purchased antenna hardware (radial plate / tilt over mount / radials / etc) from DX Engineering and was very impressed with the quality and attention to detail. H
My new AL-80B will be here in a few days and I wonder if like the 811H there are some "must have" mods? Anything from Measures on this amp? TY Charlie Ham Radio - AD5TH www.ad5th.com Live Blues Music
AFAIK the parasitic suppression mod and the current in rush mod.... Charlie Ham Radio - AD5TH www.ad5th.com Live Blues Music www.492acousticblues.com -- Original Message -- From: "Dan" <dpipes@earthl
Yes softening startup current in rush helps them all. The one and only amp I ever built (single 3-500z w/3300v - 1 amp supply) was tuff on 120 line voltage and would dim the house lights at turn on.
My remark was relating to the OP's question concerning the 811H and not the AL80B Charlie Ham Radio - AD5TH www.ad5th.com Live Blues Music www.492acousticblues.com -- Original Message -- From: "Scott

My AL-80B arrived today and the 15/17M tuned input has a high vswr around 10:1. The other bands inputs have low vswr and this data is with the tuner in the 746 Pro turned off. The manual says nothing
The AL-80B manual and web site discuss an "optional' grid protection board I believe they call it. I am the new owner of a used AL-80B and would like to know how I can check if this "optional ' grid
Took my AL-80B to Starkville,MS so Rob and Mike at Ameritron could solve e the high vswr on the 15 and 20M input circuits. The amp was also a tad low power at 650 cw. Once the 3-500Z got replaced the

Using ICOM 746 Pro and AL-80B here but did have an 811H at my last station. You do not need the interface for keying the amp. The alc has a setting adj on the back of the amp. Follow the manual and u
Using an ICOM 746 Pro with an AL-80B amp. According to their respective manuals the AL-80B sources +12vdc at 100mA and the 746Pro can sink a max of +16vdc at 500mA. QUESTION: Do I need an amplifier k
Pleased with my Ameritron AL-80B which easily delivers 1KW PEP. Watts is watts....brand name in that regard is irrelevant. Buy the Ameritron and stick the $2000+ savings into the antenna system...the
I had my AL-80B serviced under warranty (soft tube) at Ameritorn ( I live 70 miles from Starkville and sat next to Rob the tech during the entire service procedure) and it checked out fine for linear
I recently purchased a used AL-80B and had similar trouble on 20M and 15M. The input vswr was high (over 4 to 1) and would not respond to tuning the respective input tanks. I carted it up to Starkvil
I installed this key line buffer today and photographed it inside and out. I scanned the schematic (which has component values) and posted everything on the following web page. Images and schematic a
ICOM support never answered my email but when I called them up they definitely said to use a key line buffer or expect a failure. I do not know that the ARB-704 is any better than the buffer you alre
That is really interesting since the Icom tech I spoke to was adamant about a key line buffer. Even when I told him the AL-80B sources only +12vdc at 100mA he expressly said I needed one or could exp
