Hello wise ones... Bought a nice 3K-A at a flea market and made one SSB contact. On the second contact it tripped off on HV overcurrent. After some debugging, the Plate choke is leaky to ground at HV
Hi Ron, I like the idea of putting the choke in the return lead. But the way the return floats a bit above ground for metering makes me uncertain exactly where to wire in choke. - between bridge and
yes, HV filter choke. The RF choke would not work well in the ground lead. ;-). jeff, wa1hco _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.contest
I don't think it's really a swinging choke. Just a 8 or 10 H choke that varies a bit with DC current. jeff, wa1hco _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.co
I'm trying to show that are actually two ways to put the choke in the return lead. I'm still interested in which people recommend. Putting the choke in the return lead is simple. But there are two wa
Hello list... The flea market 3K-A has a Peter Dahl plate transformer, part number looks like "3KA PLATE". Was this standard in the 3K-A or is this a replacement? thanks, jeff, wa1hco _______________
Consider the arc as a zero ohm resistor. The current peak is limited by the glitch resistor and the impedance of the HV caps jeff, wa1hco _______________________________________________ Amps mailing
Suggest adding a bluetooth link from filament to control panel to further the scheme. jeff, wa1hco _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.c
Thank you for doing this. I find both video and your emails informative. jeff, wa1hco _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com
If the HV supply uses choke input, then probably ok to use a VFD. Cap input filters have extreme current peaks at the peak of the line cycle. I made my own 3 phase converter from a used 3 Phase motor
