Got mine in today! I was shocked to win first place in my section, low power. Any hard core 160m op would weep if he/she saw my antenna. Looking forward to next month's contest and hopefully working
Joe, I agree completely on the check issue. The rules are pretty plain on what the check is. If it was any number you choose, the rules would say "The check is any number you choose" 73s John AA5JG _
I have run the past few SSs with a low dipole and barefoot power. Went QRO this year to 150 watts by getting a TS950S! Not sure the extra 50 watts makes a difference, but makes you feel louder, HI HI
Didn't have a lot of time to operate this past weekend, but figured I would get on when I could, hand out some SS QSOs, try out a new for me rig on CW contesting (It did very well) and try for a swee
I didn't get SFL until Sunday either. Kind of an unusual SS, wasn't it 73s John AA5JG _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Contest@contesting.com http://lists.co
I have a mid level, late 90s rig on the way that has had the INRAD roofing filter installed in it. This is supposed to be a 5 to 6khz wide roofing filter, not some of the real narrow ones we are seei
How do you know that 599 isn't a real signal report? 73s John AA5JG _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Contest@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailm
But if it doesn't matter, and can't be enforced, why put it in the rules? Why not have the rules state: "The check is any 2 digit number the operator chooses, which must stay consistent throughout th
Compromise might not have been the best word, maybe accommodate would be better. Do the Encom people rely on the WARC bands much? They should. That should be figured into their plans, as they wouldn'
Judging by the number of assisted vs non-assisted entries, it would appear that most contesters are not looking at the cluster. 73s John AA5JG -- Original Message -- From: "Jack Haverty" <jack@3kitty
Looks like the solar flux is in the toilet again. Any chance it will improve for the contest this weekend? If not, there might be a lot of single band 40m and 80m entries. 73s John AA5JG ____________
Yes, the lack of IDing bothers me as well. The other pet peeve I have is stations in state QSO parties on SSB who don't use phonetics. You would be surprised how hard it is to get a correct callsign
I was thinking that spotting a non-IDing station as P51DX or something like that would get them plenty of requests for their callsign from the stations they were working. 73s John AA5JG _____________
Has anyone got NA set up for the 10 meter contest next weekend since it now has added Mexican states as mults as well? Is it as simple as updating the multiplier file? 73s John AA5JG ________________
Has anyone got a logging program fixed yet for the 10 meter contest to account for the XE states as multipliers? If not, what are people planning on doing for the contest loggingwise? 73s John AA5JG
Shouldn't matter, they just get entered in the M category. Since it really doesn't matter what they send as a PREC (it matters about as much as what is sent for the check), the real important thing i
I agree. This is when the NAQP is supposed to be. The ARRL opened the potential can of worms by deciding to move the ARRL RTTY Roundup. 73s John AA5JG _______________________________________________
It would seem more fair to move the RTTY roundup to the weekend of the SSB NAQP. That is only moving 1 contest, instead of 3. The NAQP stays with their traditional weekends. The ARRL decided that und
How does the Icom 756PRO do under heavy CW QRM? Some of the eham.net reviews weren't very flattering in terms of CW performance. 73s John AA5JG _______________________________________________ CQ-Cont
I found out yesterday that I am having some occasional TVI with one of the neighbors. She is really cool about it but I don't know if it is also an issue with others in the neighborhood, plus I would
