The question of remote contesting or, to go a step further, distributed contesting,is becoming much more of a possibility as new equipment is being offered with that capability, e.g. the TS480, the O

Since remote stations are not competitive with SO2R big contester stations, than let's do what we do so often - make another category just for remotely operated stations. We cud call it "SO1R", i.e "

Jim, Maybe you shud be happy that u bought the bananas. The rats were already in the house and were not going away so they were just looking for some grub. If there had not been a banana around, who

Good point, Randy. I heard (and called) a number of guys calling CQ with no response other than a repeat CQ. I even heard loud stations call them with no response. Obviously, they were on the other r

I agree that when done right, SO2R is vy useful and, in the hands of a skilled practitioner, (which I am not) is a joy to behold. My objection is to those who do not use it correctly and just tie up

Agreed. The RTTY signals just about wiped out 40 much of the time for TX stns, particularly the weaker mobiles. It was about the same as trying to dodge the Shortwave Broadcast stations up on the SSB

I, too, have been using a Brown Bros paddle for many years and it has been a joy to use. But it is suffering from too many Field Days, CQ WWs, etc. and is now in need of replacement. At a recent FOC

Since moving to SC I have noticed that it is generally considered a pretty rare multiplier where states or sections are used as mults, e.g. SS, ARRL DX, etc. That then raises the dilemma of when to s

Bravo, Jeff. My complaint is not about your actions, which I agree with, but with trying to figure out what would constitute "hard" evidence. I would think that correlating the times and frequencies

--Original Message-- You better find out before you put a packet of sun in your iced tea. Sun spots work in 28 day cycles, I'm told. On the other hand, packet spots never die; they are always out the
For submissions to ARRL DXCC, I put a post-it note on the QSL stating "Use only 80m QSO only" or "Use 7 MHz QSO only" and I have not been charged for the other QSOs on the same QSL. Of course, using
If one reads the definition from the CQ WW rules that you so kindly provided, I see nothing that disqualifies a remotely operated station. Just because one has a control wire that is outside the 500
I recently completed a fairly extensive analysis of the rules and results for state QSO Parties and was interested to see that, overall, about half of the top score QSOs were on cw and half on SSB. B
A quick look at the results for any major contest will show that the highest scores are from the unassisted ops and the assisted ops are generally lagging. True, the assisted ops usually have more mu
Does this mean that every time you switch calls from a US call to a VE4 call you need to go through Customs? I was not aware that the software ignored the portion of the call after a "/". How do you
But, what if one is an S&Per and changes frequency a lot? Then an update every 30 min is not enough. If you are looking for that rare SC mult in SS and you see me spotted 28 minutes ago, the chances
At the risk of sounding a negative note, I would think that this discussion on this reflector is using up a lot of spectrum uselessly. I imagine 99% of those subscribing to this reflector agree that
