You would be better to think about several towers. The key to HF contesting success is to have a decent signal on all bands plus some diversity. The easiest way to get loud on multiple bands is monob

I recently replaced my Heil Proset with a Pro-set Plus. The Plus seems to sound better on transmit (maybe the Proset was just getting old). It definitely seems to be more rugged. I haven't really not

I don't think log submission is the gating item in the log checking or results generation process! If you are going to allow exceptions, why bother to shorten the deadline. I would attack the problem

It is difficult to get logging software perfect for a contest that only occurs every 2, 4, or 6 years and has different rules each time! N6TR, K1EA, and W5XD (+SM6SRW) all did extra work to support W

Or... John Q. Public picks up a QST at the local newsstand and skims through it. He sees a bunch of pages of call signs and numbers. He thinks "boring", and puts it back down. Jane Q. Ham pretty much

Good point. The best approach is probably to go for fast turn around of results/writeup on the web site (for the participants who are anxious to learn who won) and do a general interest writeup in QS

I got to see the new Ten Tec Orion for the first time at the Boxboro convention this weekend. It looks like a nice package - especially if you like black! The look is kind of a cross between an Icom

I think the discussion on qrz.com is pretty well balanced and civil. No reason to call them clowns. Contests put a lot of pressure on the bands. We should acknowledge that not everyone shares our pas

We aren't talking about people who call on the wrong VFO. We are talking about guys who actually work people out of the band. Big difference in my opinion. Randy, K5ZD

What is the story with all the 2x1 calls from Germany in WAE this weekend? Sure threw me for a loop when things like DR1R and DQ4W called in through the noise on 80m! Are these new "vanity" calls? Ju
