Oh, God, not this again. Can I get a clarification.... 1. If I ask someone on the air whether or not they've heard a particular multiplier, is that OK? 2. If so, why would that NOT put me in a multi-

To play the Devil's Advocate, technically, you did solicit it by connecting to the cluster in the first place. 73 -- Paul VO1HE _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing lis

Yeah, it's easy to see how deep this thing can go. Obviously, the sponsors of the various contests need to take another look at how they deal with the evolution of technology but it seems like it's g

I have to agree with Bill on this one. Assisted is assisted no matter how it's done. 73 -- Paul VO1HE _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Contest@contesting.com

Tom, You can add to the equation: One guy with a TS-440 and a 3 el tribander and a low dipole for 40 and 80 is operating in the sweeps and has been lucky enough to find all but 3 mults for the sweep.

True, but it's in the context of "assistance". If I offer information to help you get a mult or make a contact, no matter how innocently, I have "assisted" you IF you follow up on the proffered infor

I agree, this IS ridiculous and continues to be ridiculous after just about every contest because it keeps coming up. Yes, whether you asked for the assistance or it was offered in an unsolicited man

To your first question.... Yes, there are several actually. Check out http://www.rac.ca/service/awards.htm for more info. Secondly, you should know by now that nets "own" the frequencies they use and

I'm not against nets either. Net have their place and emergency nets are quite important. I am a net controller for a couple local VO nets on 80M. I always ask if the frequency is in use first and if

Forgive me for asking but how could the use of a propagation forecaster, which is about as accurate as weather forecasting, be considered "assistance" as far as the contest sponsors are concerned? Do

Yeah, Kelly, I gotta agree. That's like using a greyline map being called assistance. This stuff is getting ridiculous now. You and Syl are right about the contest sponsors being the final authority

Well, I'm not going to comment on this topic again. We obviously have differing views on what constitutes assistance. I feel that the contest organizers meant that providing information to a contesta

I concede that a single op watching the cluster is, in all likelihood, not going to win a contest. God knows I have never won a contest doing that :) I contend that ops use the cluster for the "perce
