Hey all: I do think if someone has a dirty signal ...whether clicks on cw, or "splatter" on SSB ..first thing is to let the op know. If they don't show any interest ...then ..yeah ..put it out there.
Ooops ..should clarify a bit ..I identify after each Q ..if there is no pileup ...the point to not iding isn't to save time sending ..it is to work the pileup down ..before reloading. 73 Steve KL7SB
Hmm .I generally ID after every third Q in a heavy run .. do folks in general prefer it after each one? (Serious question). 73 Steve KL7SB because after each QSO in a big run, they skip the TU and th
I think the thing to do is send an email to the offender ..letting him/her know about the clicking. If/until I know otherwise...I assume people want to know if they are causing problems. 73 Steve KL7
Makes sense. It is something I always seem to be tinkering with. I'll have guys sending "?" after 2 Qs without an id ..but ..if you don't keep a predictable rythym ..you get ops who just call and cal
Eh ..every group is going to have a few idiots/troublemakers ...but for anyone who wants to compete ...or even just be a "casual regular" ...there is *zero* to be gained by pissing off another contes
Oh Great ...now I have the "Blame Canada" song from the South Park Movie playing in my brain. I hate each and every one of you :) 73 Steve KL7SB Ed, OMG - This is ridiculous ! You've flipped your wig
Maybe I'm just too much of a "well this is just always the way it has been done" type ...but ..it seems to me that anyone seriously contesting is "competing" but they are competing for different thin
I'm not sure changing the exchange is realistic (though man that *IS* a great idea) ...but I will comment that I find it increasingly difficult to communicate *anything* other than the contest exchan
Hi all: Exactly. I only ask for a QSY ..when I'm running ...it's relatively slow ..and late in the contest. I also never get offended if they say no. In some contests I'm a fairly rare mult ..if
Hi Ron: For me ..asking for a QSY is something I will only do while I'm running. I would find it extremely discourteous to interrupt someone running. 73 Steve KL7SB Steve, I can't speak for any
The other thing I'll add ....being DX for this contest is ...that relatively few US/Canada stations were running ....period. I operated assisted ...but also did extensive tuning .....and out of 1900
It's easy for me to say since in most contests ..I'm a Mult that people want ..but I do think the little pistols should try running ..more than they do ..especially later in contests ..or slow times
Hi Scott: I realize things are different in the Central and Eastern U.S. ..I of course do most of my contesting from up here ..though I do sometimes guest at NX6T, however I did do WW CW from EU last
Hi Mats: I was just about to send an email along these lines ...when I saw yours. The thing we *can* do ...and I'm as guilty as anyone of not doing it is ...what Frank W3LPL suggested ...be more aggr
Hi Bruce: Give the NAQPs a try. Great training ground for that ..and everyone is running 100W or less. In addition ..any contest where you can work stateside ..as well as DX should have some opportun
He Ed: Bingo (though I'm always gonna prefer CW!) ...One of the things we all do ...is ....pretty much what we think everyone else is doing at that moment. I operated Assisted in this one ...but I do
Hi Doug: Good point. I/we came up with suggestions ..but you are correct ..we didn't actually address the question .. I don't think the opposite Sideband is a great suggestion ..for people who weren'
Man ..I'm not sure if there is enough Red Bull *or* Methampetamine in the world to provide enough energy for BIC time for a 2 day Sprint. 4 Hours makes me want oxygen ..and I'm in pretty good physic
Of course! (mutters under breath ..now what do I do with all this Meth?) 73 Steve From: Jeff Clarke [mailto:ku8ejeff@mediacombb.net] Sent: Thursday, March 10, 2016 5:30 AM To: sbloom@acsalaska.net Cc
