And if EE5E had sent it, it would've really been a treat! 73, Zack W9SZ _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Contest@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/m
Some years ago, after a hiatus from ham radio for a while, I got back on the air and participated in the ARRL DX comtest. I didn't know a lot about cut numbers and also worked a lot of prefixes that
I didn't hear a single station senfing "/QRP". I did work two stations who sent "5" as their power. I'm glad none sent "E". Last couple hours of contest were fun. 20 and 40 were both rocking. I wish
I think I'll start using the cut numbers scheme that the spy numbers stations use and let everyone else figure it out during the contest. 1 = A 2 = N 3 = D 4 = U 5 = W 6 = R 7 = I 8 = G 9 = M 0 = T T
What I've done in the past is either ignore them or work them to get them off my back if they become too much of a nuisance, then remove them from the log I send it. I always keep a copy of the log w
I recall that this happened to me more on SSB than on CW. I was part of a M/S operation from NO9Z using my call a few years ago and I had a lot of USA calling me on Sunday morning in the Phone weeken
I'm just curious if anyone worked T6AF in the ARRL CW DX contest. Carl N4AA sent out a bulletin on announced operations last week that had this station listed. I never crossed paths with him and I do
I worked the station sending "JTT". It was machine-sent. I asked what the "J" meant but he just went on calling CQ. Oh well ... Maybe that station/op is on this reflector? 73, Zack W9SZ _____________
Thanks Ralph and Everyone. Oh well. I've gathered from what I've been told that there were a couple Afghanistan stations somewhat active in the contest but they were doing S&P. So was I. I'll work it
Audacity will convert .wav files to .mp3. After you download and install the free open-source program Audacity, you have to also download a free plug-in to convert to mp3 but it works quite well. Aud
Well, since the accepted logging is in integers of watts, and you can't log 0 watts, I'd go with 1. Either that or remove the QSO. I dunno. That's a "gotcha." 73, Zack W9SZ __________________________
Neither does CT. Of course you can put anything in a Cabrillo log with a text editor. I imagine this is another case like the "check" in SS - it's not as important as the fact that you're consistent
Instead of "Confirming QSO with ...", I put "To (SWL number) confirming reception of QSO of W9SZ with (other station callsign) on (Date, time etc.) 73, Zack W9SZ _____________________________________
I still do quite a bit of SWL'ing. I also like to listen for UTE and spy numbers stations. I have also noticed the absence of some stations that I heard all over the band in the late 60's. I can unde
Because other sequences than n+1 would be a lot more fun. How about factorials? 73, Zack W9SZ _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-Contest@contesting.com http://
Oh yeah. There will never be another Eddie Startz but I wonder if the Happy Station Program is being carried on? Or is that gone now, too? 73, Zack W9SZ ______________________________________________
Why limit it to base 10? Hexadecimal would be fun and would throw the cut numbers users for a loop. "5NN 4DC" 49, Zack W9SZ _______________________________________________ CQ-Contest mailing list CQ-
Heck, even contesters complain about contesters. I recall seeing complaints about RTTY contesters going too low in the CW subbands, and the same with European SSB ops in the CW subbands on 40. contes
Yes, in fact the FISTS have the callsign KN0WCW and allow members to use it with permission from the trustee as long as it's arranged in advance. Check out the listing on qrz.com. 73, Zack W9SZ _____
When I got my 850, the first thing I did was the mod to open up the transmit for the full range so i could use it with a VHF transverter that had a 22 MHz IF. This was before we got the 60 meter band
