I don't think Skimmers will attract any new contesters. Contesting will remain a test of running. Skimmers will just make it easier for experienced contesters to do even more running, while waiting f

Actually thats the opposite of my impression. I think CW contesting is a pretty intimidating effort (and sometimes purposely so by the other high speed ops). On SSB, you just have to speak, on RTTY i

Speaking for myself, I disagree. The people who are there for the love of it could care less what technology the other contesters are using. For myself, I'm a DXer first and a contester second. I get

If people can't copy the code, how do they know that the spots the Skimmer is giving them is right? Just trust that Skimmer is always correct? 73 Tom W7WHY ___________________________________________

John, I though like that prior to Internet spotting. There is no fun in being spotted in Europe when your signal into Europe is not good enough to control the mob. The skimmer will make that worse. P

The feeling that if you aren't a 30-40 wpm guy you don't really love it is exactly the intimidating spirit I was referring to and why it will help some of us play more in cw contests than before. The

I looked again at what I said, and I guess it was said poorly; in no way did I mean to imply that slower-speed ops "don't really love" contesting. Maybe so. I can only speak for myself when I say tha

I love to work CW and I love to work 45+ wpm. But I will always QRS and in fact when doing S&P I use a keyer with a knob so I can match the other guy's speed for each QSO. I feel a person can be a ne

Having been closely observing my own Skimmer setup for about 6 weeks now I tend to agree with you. Here's my take on what Skimmer does very well in contests: 1. For the casual op, find and identify *
