Well, as I reported some time ago, this garbage appears to be getting slowly worse. This morning, on 17 meters it was S-8. Switching to 20, it was S-9. I am setting up a receiving system with a chart

Just wondering: if there have been any attempts to design or fabricate an outboard hardware adapter for older model radios to enable the use of S Meter Lite? I may be wrong, but it seems like some re

For all the effort of "making it work" on an older radio, would it not be easier to beg\buy\borrow something a bit newer while you track down the noise source(s)? I do understand the fascination with

Hi, Just as a tease, I am working on a device to map the area... It is an arduino, connected to a GPS, and the S Meter of a radio, and a standard Antenna... I then just drive around and get a heat ma

If one can afford it.... I use what I already have. I must substitute my ability to modify or build for money I don't have. Besides, I live in the sticks of northern Idaho. No one I know has such a d

That sounds very snazzy, David. The only thing about "S-Meter Lite" I found distressing is that it requires a CAT radio in order to work. I'd like a similar device that worked on AGC voltage instead.

The thing is, you sit down and try to modify an old rig to do this, when for probably LESS money (You can get a working HF SDR setup for $20, give or take a few bucks - VHF for under $10) -- 73 de KG

Hi Ken, So far I have been lucky, and S-meter Lite has worked with any radio I own... As you mentioned, the limiting factor is CAT, hence the stand alone device for measuring RFI... I wanted to get a

Having been an IT Professional for over 30 years, I can bet it will cost a lot more than $10 for an effective VHF setup using SDR. Even building an effective antenna for an SDR setup will cost more t

Are you, perhaps, talking about the RTL2832U dongle or similar? If so, that DOES look intriguing, at least for the receiver, especially after visiting the SDRSharp site... Further investigation is wa
