Hi Tony nd all, I had the same question to myself several months ago.. Finally, I purchased HF-2V just before CQ WW RTTY 2005. It took me 1 hour total to install and adjust it. Very easy to assemble,

If you are not concerned with price, get the Steppir BigIR vertical. Otherwise I have had good luck with the HF6V. John N1JM This is most likely not the list for this, BUT anyone had any luck on RTTY

Butternut HF-6V. Best with lot's of radials. Worked many RTTY contests with that one and even won one (Anarts as MJ/DF4OR). Best vertical I know. Good radial system a must. GAP are ok but much larger

I may be partial, but have found that the Butternut Antennas perform very well and have performed well under the most adverse conditions for DXepeditions and personal use. My secondary antenna is an

Don't rule out HyGain. I have had an AV-640 up for 5 years and love it. I do run a KW to it occasionally. I burned up an R7 calling E4/HA1AG on RTTY running a KW on 15 meters. Still need that one! --

The coils/traps in the Cushcraft antennas are all close wound on small diameter forms - rather lossy and easy to arc at high power. Butternut Antennas have larger diameter, air-wound coils and should

Hi I have a HF2V and a SteppIR BigIR. Ther BigIR is hands down the best but it doesn't cover 80 meters. The HF2V is OK on 80 but very narrow bandwith. It also tends to get flakey if you hit it with m

I have the HyGain 620 that has been up for 6 months. I put it on some spare Rohn 25 at about 30 feet. I use it for the second radio in an SO2R arrangement. It has surprised me on more than one occasi

No one has mentioned anything about QRO. I can attest that the HF9V can take KW RTTY contesting; the older version of the R-7 cannot; and I believe that the GAPs are rated less than KW also. I've be

After all the great responses, it's starting to favor the HF9V, im just not to happy about burying 400+ feet of wire cut into ground radials in the yard, i don't use a KW just 100 watts and the anten
