Can someone please help me setup a Yaesu FT-920 for FSK. I've been trying but either the rig is broken on RTTY or I've haven't got it setup right. On recieve I have no problems but on transmit it see

Kyle, 1. First, be sure that you are, in fact, supplying the FS keying information to the 920 before suspecting the rig. If you have an ohm meter, put it across the leads that you are connecting to t

Hi Kyle Make sure that you do not set MMTTY to AFC. If you do this while operating FSK the receive signal will drift away from your transmit signal, which will not change. Your signal will be heard O

So far no luck getting the 920 working in FSK mode. I've checked my Buxcomm interface with a ohm meter and it's showing a short when keyed, when I unkey the short goes away. This leaves me to believe

Kyle, It seems like you have checked everything. Here is a few things to re-check. Check MMTTY to see if you are setup correctly. 1. From Option menu, select 'setup mmtty'. 2. Goto 'TX' tab, goto the

Kyle, if you're using a BUXCOMM interface that utilizes a 4N25 or similar optoisolator, I'm not a bit surprised it won't key as expected. Do youself a favor - Make a plug for your rig's FSK ACC conne

Not sure what all the Buxcomm interface controls but I had the same symptoms with an interface I bought that handled FSK/PTT/CW. The 3 functions are split out in a small project box with 3 RCA jacks.

You are correct Ian, I have not shorted from the opto-isolator perhaps I should give it a try. When shorted at the data plug the tone is changed. The Buxcomm works great on my 1000 Field, but it's ba

Radio Shack should have a 1K resistor and a 2N2222 or 2N3904 transistor for a whole lot less than a Rascal. And, for the 1000MP, MARK-V, and the IC-756PRO and PROII, you can send the TxD pin of the c

Ian, what "regular" optos did you use? I've heard of some successes, but not with the 4N-series, e.g. the 4N25. _______________________________________________ RTTY mailing list RTTY@contesting.com
