Splits are not common during contests, other than 160m CW for JA (not any more), 80m SSB DX, and 40 SSB DX. And nothing is more frustrating than to be working 40m in a DX contest and hear all the DX

Yup. In one instance, a PSK31 calling frequency was set up in the middle of the traditional DX window(!). Unfortunately, in Region 1, it remains a digital calling frequency. What can you do? Region 1
