Does anyone know the procedure for calibrating the Orion s-meter? Are there hardware pots that can be adjusted? Thanks & Happy New Year, Barry N1EU _______________________________________________ Ten

It's all done in firmware. My software provides this but it's only for the program S meter. Carl Moreschi N4PY 121 Little Bell Dr. Hays, NC 28635 www.n4py.com ________________________________________

That brings up another "Fix it" that should be looked at. The O II S-meter is extremely stingy below S-9, but way too generous above S-9. The results of my tests on v 2.039d are at: http://n6ie.com/O

Go to the RX menu and press the 15m band select key. This will bring up a screen that allows you set the S meter in digital counts. AL7CR _______________________________________________ TenTec mailin

Thanks - it's uncharted territory in there but I think I managed to improve things. I was careful to record the original values before mucking around. 73, Barry N1EU _________________________________

Let me see if I understand this function. I would select an S meter value (say S9) then change the digital count so that the S meter reads S9. Is that correct? 73 Tom AA4VV __________________________

I've never seen a description of what those values mean. I just played with them until the Orion s-meter responded similarly to a known good receiver's s-meter. I can't really recommend that anybody

I assume that the default settings are defined in the firmware, but in my case they do not correspond to the actual meter readings for each step. In my case, they are much stingier. When I set each o

-73 dBm is 50 uV which is one accepted standard for S9. Seems like your s meter is linear in that part of the range, just very generous (by 20dB)...not to show my admitted ignorance, but does that ri
