I may have missed something here. Perhaps someone could explain it to me. I have been a ham well over 50 years and have put up and helped put up quite a few towers. I have never seen the need for tem

I do not use an H frame, I was just talking about the spacing. If I had an H frame, I would use closer spacing to cut down on the construction problems. I should have clarified this. Chuck W5PR _____

This idea just occurred to me: One way to do this might be to put a stacked antenna matchbox up there that would select "Upper," "Lower" or "Both" antennas and one could drive both antennas in phase

Now you are making fun of a serious matter. You wouldn't want anyone to spend 600 bucks to drop a truck load of concrete in a hole and then find out it was useless because they forgot a simple thing

If you have moisture in the coax, it can act like this. There will be a high resistance path to ground which will heat up on transmit and reduce in resistance, causing the SWR to rise. Test the coax

I like gamma matched beams because you don't need a balun and there is no DC short to ground at the antenna. You can check for shorts and high resistance paths to ground from the shack. Chuck W5PR __
