OK I have gotten the replacement cables from US Towers. Any tips from the folks who have done this project yet? The short cable for the upper section seems pretty straight forward. It is the routing
Steve & Lon, Would this be the same as the cable arrangement on my HDX-555 just on a larger(longer) scale. If so I can take as many pictures as possible while mine is still laying on the ground. Phil
Bob, there was a facility south of me here in Central Illinois. It had an antenna very similar to the one you describe. It has disappeared in the last couple of years to be replaced by a microwave an
OK now we are getting to the question I have been wanting to ask. Can a rebar cage work just as well if it is cut and welded together rather than bent and wire tied? It is my plan but thought I might
Wow lots of responses and idea's. I hadn't planned on using the cage for grounding so that isn't a concern at the moment, although I will look into that aspect. Having things inspected here is also a
Anyone have any experience with this stuff (RFC 400)? It is supposed to be a LMR 400 equivalent but haven't heard of them before. Phil N9LAH _______________________________________________ __________
I have the antenna mentioned in the subject line. I purchased it used about a year ago. I never really got around to checking it out. I have now tried to assemble it as a stand alone dipole. The prob
Thanks for all the replies and especially the fact that they all agree that my idea will work. Although I may need to take some time to get it done right and it may not make tis round of tower work.
Fred, when you say you have to make 1/32 to 1/16 deep passes, what type of saw? Table, or maybe a radial arm saw? Phil N9LAH _______________________________________________ __________________________
You could always use one of the Force 12 40 meter dipoles. Most of their shortened dipoles are also used as add ons for their tri-band antennas. Phil N9LAH ___________________________________________
Although I have never used them, I am putting together an order though. The Bolt Depot seems to be a fairly complete site that I stumbled upon. http://www.boltdepot.com/Default.aspx Phil N9LAH ______
Get a hold of the folks at M2 Antennas they should be able to provide you with whatever you need for the KLM beams, at least the KT34. Phil N9LAH _______________________________________________ _____
I am no metalurgist ( and I don't play one on TV ) but I would never reuse guy wire clamps. I used the same type of clamp to secre the tag end of my crank up tower cable and they weren't that expensi
Gary, Please share any responses with the list. I am looking at my own used tower and although it is already up I am considering "sprucing" it up this year. Phil N9LAH _______________________________
I have a Cushcraft 424B 432 beam with the 3 element Triagonal reflector. I seem to remember that there was some information at one time about converting it to a standard single reflector as well as t
Very true for the LPDA, but if you read the specs on the C3 line of antennas, I believe they are a series of interlaced 2 element beams. That's why the C3 has a total of 6 elements for three bands. T
Well I have a Tennadyne T6 up at the moment and although I am not entirely disappointed with it, I'm not sure it is the route I would take again. I think I would go with the XR5 from Force 12. Phil N

I suppose it depends on your operating technique and needs. If you want to chase DX one band at a time I would go with the switch. Should you want to contest you might consider seperate feed lines so
In the latest cage rage I don't remember this subject, but some one is sure to let me know if I missed it. Would it be beneficial to make the 55 foot vertical section of my inverted "L" maybe a 6 wir
