I've had a strange problem develop with my JK 404C 4 element tribander.  - The signal is sometimes attenuated.  Per my Flex 6600, I'll show a noise floor of -130db, when I transmit a bit the noise fl

Have certainly seen similar things here.... likely a coax connector not quite tight or has oxidation - but usually a small dose of transmitted RF will break thru the oxidation layer and make it work

It sounds like a bad connection, a little RF causes it to temporarily reconnect. The easiest way to locate the problem is to start bypassing things when in failure mode until the RX signal returns. I

Things to check? Yes. Every connection in the chain from the radio to the antenna. I too have had this issue on antennas and all types of things with connections and relays. Thanks 73 Jim W7RY  - The

I have had this problem as well. Its usually a bad braid to connector - through oxidation or temp cycling over time. Hanging on by a thread and the RF affects the connection. Never shows bad on trans

Rich, I would check the connectors on your feedline run. Sometimes a connection running RF is made but on RX the connection opens to the point that the induced noise appears. The same could be true w

Other related things to check: - A female UHF connector, barrel, etc. where the center conductor has expanded through use. - Are you powering a remote antenna switch through the same coax ? A loose c

I had a driven element on my 3 ele 20-6 mtr Steppir that I never resolved but it would lose RX signal strength. Bypassed coax, checked for fractured solder connections in the EHU (think that is what

I had a problem on 20 meters similar to that. I could not figure out what it was back and forth to the tower with burnishing the relays in the relay box, replacing certain cables, etc. No help. I swa

The WX cooperated yesterday evening so I could climb the tower. I disconnected the coax to the balun as well as disconnecting the balun from the feed point, then reconnected both. During the disconne

Rich, I am glad you found the problem, but my guess is that you only temporarily fixed it. My experience is that this stuff re-emerges, usually after temp cycling a bit, sometime a number of months l
