I have searched and searched throughout the archives of TowerTalk and have not been able to ascertain the definitive (or even a good idea) method for cadwelding copper flashing to copper-clad rods. I

I've never seen a way to cadweld copper strip to a ground rod. Maybe there is and I missed it. But I use mechanical means Two of them. one way Using a sawzall, I gut a kerf in the ground rod, slid th

Flashing is too thin to weld with exothermic welding (cadweld). Recommend using sliver brazing or go with a thicker material. The steel inside the ground rod will almost be guaranteed to corrode when

It's probably too thin to weld and a mechanical clamp may be a better solution. Polyphaser makes a clamp (PT#58R-112S) that will attach 1 1/2" wide strap to a 5/8" ground rod. I have searched and sea

Jason, I have been wondering the same thing myself. I am about to call some vendors to see what they say about it. As an alternative, I believe there are some hefty clamps for this purpose. A while a

I believe "Flashing" is nominally .021" thick and is just under the .025" that most 2-3" copper strapping measures that is used for grounding via cadwelding. I had some undersized strap for which All

Just a comment from using the clamps... the 5/8" rods typically found in the big box stores etc., are actually less than 5/8" dia. The clamps sold by Polyphaser end up too large and work much better

You can indeed do an exothermic weld with flashing. I have never seen a one-shot to do it however. An exothermic weld using flashing requires a reusable mold, handles/clamp, and shot charge. The mold
